Negombo is an important regional town and tourist centre in the western province of Sri Lanka. It is adjoining to Katunayake where the International Airport is situated. Negombo is linked by Road to Colombo, Kurunegala and Chilaw . Negombo is very famous for fishes and the main lively hood of the people around Negombo is fishing. There is a Fishing Harbor to serve the boats used for fishing .Negombo Beach is very popular among the tourists and several Tourist Hotels have been built in and around Negombo. Negombo is a predominantly Roman Catholic area.

The Railway Network was introduced by the British in 1864. The main reason for building a railway system
in Sri Lanka was to transport goods to the Capital. Initially the service began with the Main Line connecting Colombo to Ambepussa. Extensions were made to the Negombo in 10th December 1910. So it will be 100th anniversary of the Negombo railway station 0n 10th December 2010.
Then we established an society called "100th anniversary commemoration and welfare society"of the leadership by hon. General Manager.
